Position Overview

We're seeking a highly capable Chief Operating Officer / Chief of Staff to partner closely with campaign leadership and lead the systems, structure, and team culture that power our next phase of growth. This person will play a central role in overseeing day-to-day operations, driving cross-functional coordination, and ensuring organizational health. They'll identify challenges, support department leads, improve systems, and help scale the team effectively. The ideal candidate brings strong operational and leadership experience—and is deeply motivated by a commitment to public service and a vision for transforming the politics of San Francisco, the Democratic Party, and the country.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run day-to-day operations and ensure tight coordination across campaign departments
  • Spot operational challenges before they surface and implement smart, scalable solutions
  • Partner with senior staff and department leads to drive toward weekly and long-term goals
  • Build systems for hiring, onboarding, planning, and execution that support a fast-moving team
  • Ensure alignment on strategic priorities and facilitate cross-functional execution
  • Help steer budget oversight, team communication, and campaign prioritization
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the Campaign Manager and candidate, offering clear, level-headed judgment in high-pressure moments
  • Own the operational engine of the campaign—from managing calendars, workflows, and coordination tools (Asana, Calendly, etc.) to handling vendor contracts, tracking receipts, troubleshooting tech issues, and removing day-to-day friction across the team
  • Create a high-performing team culture built on collaboration, clarity, integrity and aligned core values

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in a senior operations, general management, or in a Chief of Staff / COO-equivalent role
  • Love building the machine while it's running—you're systems-minded, but action-driven
  • Proven experience managing teams and driving cross-functional execution
  • Expertise in systems development, logistics, and process improvement
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • High emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills, with a track record of effective collaboration
  • Excellent judgment in fast-moving or ambiguous environments
  • Deep commitment to the values and mission of the campaign
  • Preferred: experience with volunteer-driven organizations, campaigns, or nonprofit operations

About the Campaign

Saikat Chakrabarti is running for Congress in San Francisco with a bold, people-powered vision for transformative change. This is a campaign that refuses to be captured by the interests of billionaires or entrenched political factions. We are building a coalition that includes and uplifts every community in the city—and we are looking for a San Francisco-based Political Director / Organizer who shares that vision.

About the Role

The Political Director / Organizer will play a crucial leadership role in helping build one of the most inclusive, community-rooted campaigns San Francisco has seen. This role requires deep relationships across the city, sharp political instincts, and a commitment to working across divides to unite people around a common vision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead outreach and relationship-building efforts across San Francisco's diverse neighborhoods, communities, and constituencies
  • Organize and manage meetings with community leaders, neighborhood groups, civic organizations, unions, faith communities, advocacy orgs, and others
  • Represent the campaign in public and private forums with professionalism, clarity, and authenticity
  • Identify and lift up local voices and concerns to inform campaign priorities, messaging, and strategy
  • Support development of campaign materials and messages that resonate with a wide range of voters, across languages and communities
  • Help manage and advise on political targeting, field priorities, and strategic community engagement
  • Collaborate with senior staff on coalition-building, endorsements, and visibility in key communities
  • Assist in building a multilingual, multi-racial campaign infrastructure that reaches every corner of the city

Ideal Candidate

  • Deep roots and trusted relationships in San Francisco's communities
  • At least 3 years of experience in political organizing, campaign strategy, community engagement, or movement-building
  • Strong communication skills, including experience engaging stakeholders across differences
  • Passion for inclusive, ground-up change and a vision for a better future for all San Franciscans
  • A non-dogmatic, independent thinker with sharp political judgment and deep integrity
  • Fluency or proficiency in a language spoken by San Francisco communities is a plus

Campaign Data Director

Our campaign is building a data-driven operation to win in San Francisco's congressional race. We believe effective data systems are critical to our success - not just for tracking progress, but for making strategic decisions that maximize our impact with voters and volunteers. We're seeking a skilled Data Director who can transform raw information into actionable insights that drive our campaign forward.

Job Overview

The Data Director will be responsible for designing, maintaining, and executing the campaign's data infrastructure to support field, digital, fundraising, and communications strategies. You will play a critical role in helping the campaign make data-informed decisions that drive voter contact, volunteer engagement, and overall efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Data Strategy & Infrastructure

  • Develop and implement data strategies that support campaign goals across all departments.
  • Design and maintain systems to track voter contact, volunteer activity, and engagement metrics.
  • Build custom reports and dashboards to provide visibility and actionable insights to leadership and field teams.

VAN Management & Voter File

  • Manage all aspects of the VAN (Voter Activation Network) database.
  • Oversee list creation for canvassing, phonebanking, textbanking, and mail programs.
  • Ensure accurate data entry and timely syncing of field results.

Analytics & Targeting

  • Use modeling, voter history, and demographic data to help define targeting universes.
  • Run analyses to assess program effectiveness and recommend optimizations.
  • Collaborate with polling/analytics consultants if applicable.

Tools & Technology

  • Oversee integration of tools such as Spoke, Reach, Scale to Win, Mobilize, ActionNetwork, and others.
  • Provide tech support and training to campaign staff and volunteers on data tools.
  • Evaluate and onboard new tools that increase data efficiency and impact.

Qualifications

Must-Have

  • 2+ cycles of experience working in campaign data roles, with at least 1 in a data leadership position.
  • Proficiency with VAN (NGP/VAN or EveryAction), Google Sheets, and data visualization tools.
  • Understanding of field campaign metrics, including contact rates, universe sizes, and turf cutting.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and commitment to data integrity.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to translate data into actionable advice for non-technical teammates.
  • Deep belief in progressive values and passion for transformative change.

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience in California politics and familiarity with San Francisco's electorate.
  • Skills in SQL, Python, or R for data cleaning and analysis.
  • Familiarity with APIs, Airtable, or campaign CRM systems.
  • Experience managing junior staff or volunteers in data/tech roles.
