Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib Endorses Saikat Chakrabarti for Congress in CA-11

SAN FRANCISCO — Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) has endorsed CA-11 congressional candidate Saikat Chakrabarti, citing his commitment to working people and bold vision for the future of the Democratic Party.

Tlaib, one of the nation's leading progressive voices in Congress, joins a growing coalition of grassroots leaders and more than 30 local and national organizations backing Chakrabarti's campaign in San Francisco.

"Saikat is running to fight for working people who feel abandoned by the democratic establishment," said Tlaib. "He understands that real change only happens when we organize and challenge the status quo. Saikat is building the kind of people-powered movement rooted in courage and accountability that we need more of in Congress. I'm proud to endorse him."

Chakrabarti and Tlaib have worked closely since their time helping build the Justice Democrats movement in 2017, which supported the election of a new generation of progressive lawmakers to Congress.

Chakrabarti is running in California's 11th Congressional District on a platform focused on addressing the affordability and housing crises, expanding Medicare for All, taxing the ultra-rich, and ending corruption in Washington.

His campaign has built one of the largest grassroots field operations in San Francisco history, knocking on nearly half a million doors and mobilizing thousands of volunteers for canvasses, rallies, town halls, and community events across the city.
