We Can Fix This
Authoritarianism is winning because the American Dream is failing.
We need leaders in Congress with the courage and determination to stop Trump now, or our democracy will collapse. But to save democracy for good, we must prove it can work to improve people's lives.
I worked for Bernie in 2016. I ran AOC's upset race in 2018. And after she won, I became her Chief of Staff where I was put in charge of writing and launching the Green New Deal.
I've seen how one act of political courage by one person could change everything. The Green New Deal completely transformed the Democrats' climate change stance. We did that by organizing internally and with outside groups to create pressure on every Democrat running for President. That directly led to the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act – the largest investment in climate change in history.
From my first day in Congress, I will do that kind of organizing to change the Democratic Party to be one that fights for Medicare for All, building millions of units of affordable housing, ending big money in politics, taxing the billionaires and corporations, and other overwhelmingly popular policies.
San Francisco should have a representative who is fighting to push the bounds of what is possible
Whether it’s the cost of living crisis, housing shortage, homelessness or drug addiction crisis, San Francisco faces many of America’s problems hardest. We cannot afford to have a representative fighting to keep a broken status quo intact.
San Francisco has always been the home of movements that fight to fix what the nation gets wrong. From the Longshoreman’s Strike in 1934 that unionized the West, to the anti-war movement of the 1960s, to the LGBTQ rights and disability rights movements, when the country wouldn’t move, San Francisco pushed.
And our country needs San Francisco to push again today.
In Congress, I will:

Cut utility bills by up to 40% with public power
Fully fund Muni and BART for fast, affordable service
Build affordable housing for lower rents
Vote to stop funding the genocide in Gaza

About me.
I was born in Fort Worth, TX, to immigrants from India. I came to San Francisco after college in 2009, like so many others, with dreams of making a difference and fell in love with our city. I started my own company here before joining Stripe as its second engineer.
I left Stripe to join Bernie's 2016 campaign where I traveled the country building tools that powered Bernie's unprecedented grassroots movement. On that campaign, I met an incredible group of leaders and together we launched an effort to recruit a new generation of leaders to Congress called Justice Democrats.
Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was a member of our first class of recruits. I ran her 2018 campaign before going into Congress as her Chief of Staff, where I was in charge of writing and launching the Green New Deal.
I now lead a policy think tank devoted to developing comprehensive plans for how the government can deliver prosperity and economic security for all Americans through an economic mobilization to build a clean economy for the U.S. and the world. I am also involved with several non-profits in San Francisco like the SF-Marin Food Bank, the Housing Accelerator Fund, Non-Profit Housing Association of Northern California, and the Friends of Duboce Park. I live with my wife and daughter in Duboce Triangle.
